| Plenty
of redundant exhibits mixed with some significantly new products, were on
display. A lot of attention was, strangely, given to engines and tooling
with not too much focus on armament or ordnance. |

SAGEM's modular
AASM. Modules include either an IMU/GPS (CEP ±10 m) or IMU/GPS/IIR
guidance kit, a range extension kit with unfolding wings and a solid
rocket motor, the 250 kg bomb body (Mk.82/BLU-111/CBEMS/Bang) and a
fuze plus associated accessories. Range is advertised between 50 and 15
km, depending on the altitude of release. The AASM is compatible with
MIL-STD-1533/1760 interfaces and NATO standard suspension lug spacings. |

Airbus has expressed
extreme displeasure in Air India's choice of Boeing for the latter's next
order. AI has also threatened to sue the former for defamation. This
should unfortunately kill any prospect of seeing any A-380s in Air India
colors, anytime soon.

The EH-101 will
be hard pressed to conduct the duties of the highly capable Sea King
chopper. The Mangusta (bottom right) helicopter appears to be
similar to the Dhruv-WSI in implementing separate gimbaled turrets for nav
and fire-control sensors respectively. It also appears to resemble the HAL
LCH. |

The Alenia C-27J
Spartan is being marketed as a mini-C-130J. The C-27J is also
explicitly marketed as an alternative to the C-295. Alenia claim that 9
C-27Js are required to move 240 tonnes of cargo to 500 nm within 12 hrs,
as opposed to 17 C-295s that would be required for the same. |
